My Roots Are Rich is a social justice nonprofit that aims to fight systemic racism in the education system. We bring light to the rich history of people of African descent, which is often times left out of the textbooks. By being the narrative of change we will educate all people in how they view those of different cultures.
Meet Our Founder
Nyla Choates has been making waves in the world of entrepreneurship and social change as the author, founder and CEO of the children’s brand My Roots Are Rich. Due to her work in making an impact on children across the world, she was recently honored as a 2023 Mcdonald’s Black & Positively Golden Change Leader
A native of Milpitas CA., Choates is a motivated rising Senior at Spelman College, President of the Spelman Entrepreneurship Club, Spelpreneur Pitch Competition 1st place winner, Amazon Black is Entrepreneurial 1st place winner, Black Girl Ventures Student Visionary, Blackstone Launchpad Fellow, CBE Scholarship recipient, RICE Stakeholder, and Target Scholar.
Nyla is extremely passionate about fighting systemic racism within the education system. And to combat this, she wrote the best selling childrens book, My Roots Are Rich. Nyla’s favorite quote is “you have to be the change that you want to see in the world.” She wants to be that change.
